I view this experimental series as a moonlit voyage from printmaking to relief sculpture, collage and painting. Here I see the "surface" as a material interface. I sketch, forage, cut and build. The interactions between mediums feed off each other fighting and blending in my head. Along this journey, I take the mechanics and gestures of the printmaking process with me, while at the same time I let them go. Layer by layer, I work varying materials on the surface of a wood matrix. I've been working with the "block" from the beginning; in one form or another, it's been a steadfast participant in my work. I use whatever is available to me and fabricate elements when necessary, allowing my emotions and subconscious to direct my path.
