Nest Series, 2020. cast bronze-nails, yarn, swaddling cloth, marble. 1 (23.8 x 6’’) 2 (19 x 5 x 4’’) 3 (14 x 7 x 4’’).

Kristen created this work as a symbolic gesture, the “power nest” is safe from harm. She built her nest in a precarious place; she saw a robin do the same after. On the edge of the sill, there was nothing to hold its grip.

During Hurricane Irene, 2011, Kristen and her family fled to higher ground with their newborn child and returned six months later. For the next ten years, she made work about the aftermath of their experience. Nest Series, 2020 along with Bracing Stone, 2021 are the final pieces of this body of work.
